This winter has already been a crazy one that’s for sure! From sub zero temperatures for several days and snow just piling up every where from the blizzard… to warmer temperatures and flooding from all the rain and melting snow… then back to cold temperatures and all that water freezing causing ice skating rinks in everyone’s driveway. Not to mention the major wind storm in the beginning that took power out for a week in some places and uprooted trees all over the place. We just can’t seem to get a break! And of course with that comes all kinds of destruction and cleanup. But as the saying goes… if you don’t like the weather in Maine, just wait a minute! Though, us Mainers can handle anything that mother nature throws at us. We just remember to dress warm, drive careful, and get the work done the best we can.
The kids of course are right out in the snow banks digging tunnels, making snow forts and climbing snowbank mountains just so they can slide down. Then eating icicles and freshly made snow cones and ice skating down the driveway… in some places even across the yard. It’s a blessing when they want to help with the shoveling and cleaning up. After all that fun they come clomping inside where it’s warm to get out of their cold and wet coat and snowpants. Then it’s time to get all snuggled up on the couch with a cup of hot chocolate and a nice movie. If only we could join them for a nice afternoon nap.
That’s Maine for ya, and we all love it!
